In true average mom fashion, I wrote this when Maverick turned 12 months, but didn’t take the picture til last week. So….one day before my little man turns 13 months, I’ll give you his ONE YEAR update 🙂 (And thanks for not judging my tardiness too much!)
My tiny baby is no longer at tiny baby. We can now just say he’s a year old instead of bothering to think in months. (Side note: I think it’s weird when people are like, “my baby is 23 months old!!” Like, your baby is “almost 2” and is actually a toddler. Just me?! )
Anyway. This kid!!!! He is starting to get more adventurous on his legs, and we’ve caught him standing without holding on to anything a few times. But once he realizes he’s standing there, he drops down immediately. He’s so good at cruising along furniture and such a fast crawler that he doesn’t really seem to care about trying to walk. ☺
He is THE BEST EATER when he’s eating something he likes. He just loves to eat. He eats lunch before we come home for lunch, and then eats again with us! He can’t stand anyone eating without him. We actually have to sneak food sometimes! He likes ham, chicken, grapes and pickles more than anything else. He also LOVES MILK.
Which is the perfect transition to the biggest change…we are DONE with bottles. Yep. Done. He hasn’t had one in 5 days. He’s drinking milk from a sippy cup like he’s been doing it all his life. He doesn’t seem to care that the bottle is gone. I am no longer pumping!!!! We are also done with on-demand nursing. The only time I’m breastfeeding is first thing when he gets up and last thing before he goes to bed. He’s handling the whole thing really well.
He still loves trucks, his dogs, and his sister’s room. He will pound on her door and throw an absolute fit when he wants in and Harlyn won’t open up! They are so siblings. I didn’t even know that a 4 year old and a kid who only sometimes says 3 words could argue and fight and love so hard!!!
He is wearing 12-18 month clothes. I don’t know how much he weighs, but he’s definitely hard to lug around for any length of time! His 1 year well check is next week, so I’m excited to see how much he’s grown!
He sleeps from 6:30 pm to 6:30 AM. He is trying so hard to drop his afternoon nap–lately he’s been refusing to take it. Hopefully, we can switch him around so that if he’s really gonna do this one nap deal, he’ll take the afternoon one and skip the morning. We shall see. His napping is so much different than Harlyn’s was. Once she was on a schedule at about 6 months, she slept 9-11 am and 1-4 pm well into her second year. Not so much with MavBoy!!!
He seems to maybe be outgrowing his acid reflux, or maybe his meds are finally making a difference? I can’t tell…but I rarely hear acid anymore, and his puking is back to almost nothing. WOO HOO! He’s got another GI appt at the end of the month, so we’ll see what they have to say then.
Overall this kid is happy and healthy. He’s smart and goofy and ALL BOY. He is handsome and sweet and everything you could hope your little (BIG) boy could be.
He’s so cute! One year old is such a milestone … always makes me feel a little emotional haha but also excited because it’s SUCH a fun age!
I know! I feel the same…it’s so sad and so great at the exact same time. Oh, motherhood. 😉
He’s precious. Enjoy every moment. My second son had horrible reflux and would projectile vomit after each feeding. Good times!!! It will get better!!!!
It’s the worst!! But thankfully like you said, it does get better! 🙂
He’s so cute! My daughter is 13 months old & they are super similar! She’s such a fast crawler & loves cruising she hasn’t taken that one step without my hand yet! She also is done with bottles & loves milk! Woo!
No bottles is seriously so liberating, isn’t it?? Although if I am being honest, when we put the Boppy in the attic I felt like I could cry…haha!!
It’s crazy how fast that year flies by! So cute!
I know…a little TOO fast in my opinion! Sometimes I’m like, wait a second, how can I be the mom of 2? Aren’t I like 22? And then…I remember. LOL.
HAHA, yes on the months thing! I’m in that weird in between where my kid isn’t 1 or even 1.5 and he’s not 2 yet, so when people ask how old he is, I’m always like “ummm, um um…almost 2!”
LOL. I know…it can get complicated! I think I’ll probably stick with you with the 1, 1.5, and ALMOST 2 wording over the next several months here 😉
What a cutie! Also, YES about the months thing. I’m already saying my LO is close to one, and she is 10 months. lol
HAHA..yep! I did the same thing with Maverick..10-11 months is close enough to one. I just saw someone yesterday online say their baby was 26 months old!
