Four Worship Songs You Need on Your Playlist

I love a good worship song. There’s nothing like going to church and it’s just one song after the other of your CHRISTIAN JAMS. When I was young, I never got why people cried in church. As an adult, I totally understand it. There are some songs that definitely “get me.”  Today I’m rounding up four of my faves—songs that make me remember who God is and who I am because of Him—and yes, make me get a little misty-eyed.

1.In Christ Alone
Morbid as this is, I always say that this is the song I’d want at my funeral. I love the final verse:

“No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the pow’r of Christ in me
From life’s first cry to final breath,
Jesus commands my destiny.
No pow’r of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand
‘Til He returns or calls me home
Here in the pow’r of Christ I’ll stand”

I don’t even really think I can say much about this; it speaks for itself. It’s the perfect reminder that God is there EVERY single moment and He is the one in charge of my life.

2. Good, Good Father
My favorite part:

I’ve seen many searching for answers far and wide
But I know we’re all searching
For answers only you provide
‘Cause you know just what we need
Before we say a word

You’re a good good father
It’s who you are, it’s who you are, it’s who you are
And I’m loved by you
It’s who I am, it’s who I am, it’s who I am

Isn’t that SO true? That we’re all searching, but only God has the answers we need? That he knows everything we need, everything we think, before we ever even have the thought. He really is a Good, Good Father. Our earthly fathers can fail us; our Heavenly Father never will. And we’re loved by Him.

3. No Longer Slaves
Oh geez…I just need to put the whole song here. It’s a great song.

But I’ll just use this part:

You split the sea
So I could walk right through it
My fears are drowned in perfect love
You rescued me
And I will stand and sing
I am a child of God.

I mean…He rescued me! ME. Not just people back 2000 years ago. He’s rescuing me every day. I am HIS child. Singing this song gets me every time.

4. Death Was Arrested
Again, I could plop the entire song in this post and leave it at that.

Love this verse:

Our savior displayed on a criminal’s cross
Darkness rejoiced as though heaven had lost
But then Jesus arose with our freedom in hand
That’s when death was arrested and my life began

I don’t know if your church sings it like mine, but man, when we get to the “Jesus arose with our freedom in hand” it’s like WOW. Powerful stuff. I love singing this song and being reminded that Jesus beat death. NOTHING and NO ONE can defeat my Savior.

Okay…those are my top worship songs! Now it’s your turn!! Tell me which ones you love!
