12 “Me Time” Ideas for Moms

Okay–if you’ve been around here for a few, you know that I have fully embraced the concept of “me time.” I long believed that “good” moms don’t take time for themselves…especially working moms who already don’t see their kids a whole lot on weekdays.

But as I got worn down, I realized that I need to have “me time.” I’m an introvert, a wife, an employee, a boss, a mom, a blogger, a podcaster. I NEED ME TIME, GUYS. It’s just the facts!

So here’s 15 of my favorite ways to take some time for me, myself, and I.

1.Go on a run.

Or a walk if you don’t run!

2. Take a nap.

I don’t do this often, but when I get the chance…it feels SO GOOD!

3. Go get Starbucks (or lunch!) alone.

Just last week, I took myself to lunch. It was a little odd, but also very relaxing!

4. Take a bath.

Every once in a while, I’ll grab a magazine or a book, a candle, and a bath bomb and settle in for a bath. Only after the kids are in bed though!!

5. Take a mini-vacay.

I know it’s hard to do, but if it’s at all possible, sneak away for a night (or 3!). Last January, I went up to Michigan for a long weekend and just got to hang with my mom and sister. No kid duties included. 😉

6. Read a book.

I LOVE reading. I don’t get to do it much these days, but I sure do love getting to settle in with a good chick-lit book. Hopefully with fall upon us, I’ll end up with a bit of extra time to read!

7. Take a workout class.

I used to hit the gym for group fitness classes (pre-kids). These days, I don’t belong to a gym, but I do take an hour every Saturday morning to go to a FiA workout!

8. Scroll your phone guilt-free.

I really do love taking some time to watch Insta Stories. It seems like every time I get on IG, my kids need something or everyone starts talking…so a few minutes alone to hang out on social media? I’m in.

9. Go get your hair done.

Yes, taking the time to go get your hair done can feel impossible. It’s why I leave my gray hairs far too long. I should have gone a month or so ago, but here I am. But taking those couple hours to get your hair done is a mini-break, and by the end of it you have pretty hair and a confidence boost!

10. Get a mani or pedi.

I know it’s cliche, but I don’t care. I really love getting my nails done. It’s always way better with a friend. That reminds me: need to convince my sister to move here so we can go get our nails done on the regular.

11. Lay in bed and watch Netflix/TV (of your choosing).

There are many shows Brandon and I watch together..but real “me time” would be watching some girly show or movie. I don’t do this a lot year round, but when Thanksgiving rolls around, I start watching the Hallmark Christmas movies. #noshame

I love me a good, happy, cheesy, holiday movie!

12. Develop and do your morning routine.

I talk about morning routine in THIS post, but my morning routine is the most consistent “me time” I have. I rarely opt to sleep in because sleeping in means I won’t have those early, quiet moments to start my day off with God, gratitude, and a calm mindset.

What’s your favorite way to spend those rare “me time” moments?

Having Me Time is an important part of everyone’s life, but maybe even more so for the busy mama. From morning routine to watching Netflix, here are 12 “Me Time” ideas for moms! #momlife #motherhood
