Today, I’m sharing my First Grade Readiness Weekly Summer Checklist printable with you!
The School of These Average Parents is now closed for summer! That’s right–we made it to the end of Kindergarten, during a pandemic, and lived to tell the tale!
All kidding aside though, homeschooling our daughter did shed a lot of light on what she is learning, where she needs a little more practice, and how she learns best. After texting with a friend, she shared that she too had some things that her rising first grader could use a little extra practice on.
I’ve kept this checklist to what I believe is “do-able” based on my family–but you may need to tweak it a bit! I added a couple extra lines for you to write your own weekly tasks in. For us, our summer will be busy–we’ll be working, which means Harlyn will be going to day camp while Maverick is in daycare. It means we will leave our house at 7:15 AM and get home around 5:30 PM, 5 days a week. This will inevitably cause Harlyn to be mentally exhausted, so I don’t want her to have a zillion tasks each week. We still want to get home and have time for dinner and outside time as a family!!!
But all that said, I don’t want her to lose what we’ve worked so hard on over these past months, or what she worked so hard on all year long. I want her to go back to school in the fall confident in her abilities. And listen, we gotta get her able to do 6+6 without using her fingers 😉
I hope that your school year is also coming to an end soon, that it’s been successful (or at least not terrible), and I hope you find this checklist helpful!
