Four years ago today, I became a mother. It’s crazy that some days, it feels like I’ve just always been a mom, and other days I’m sitting there like, “wasn’t she born yesterday?” I know everyone says how quickly the time goes, but I’m really feeling that truth today.
Harlyn is such a kind and compassionate soul. Not always to her parents who GAVE HER LIFE, (ahem!) but she is a beautiful girl, inside and out. She will do anything for her friends. On St. Patrick’s Day at preschool, the kids went on a hunt to find gold coins. When Harlyn saw that she had classmates who didn’t get coins, she willingly (and as I understand it, unprompted) gave up her coins to make sure that everyone had some. She always shares her candy with us, even if it’s the last of her favorite kind. She gives Maverick one of her stuffies to sleep with every night (we keep it on his dresser, not in his crib with him). She stops and prays literally every time she hears an ambulance or fire truck siren and asks God to protect whoever is involved in the emergency. She just loves her family and friends WELL. She loves Jesus. She is smart and determined and a perfectionist. This girl is precious, and she has my heart.
Happy fourth birthday to my sweet, beautiful angel baby who is no longer a baby at all.
