An Interview with Fitness Coach Christa Hunt

If you’ve ever struggled with fitness, exercise, or nutrition, coach Christa Hunt is your girl.

Who is Christa Hunt, you ask? Well, she’s one of my “Instagram friends”–a woman I met through the ‘gram. As time went on, we realized just how much we have in common and how closely we can relate to each other. As I was blogging about my fitness and running journey, she was continuing to build her coaching business…and we just clicked. And she’s a mom of two too–and her kids are 4 and 2, while mine are 4 and 1.5, So…you know…twinsies.

ANYWAY. As you may or may not know, my husband and I have a podcast, which you can learn more about HERE. So last week, we had the privilege of getting to chat with Christa on our podcast, and the episode is now LIVE!

But Christa gave just so much amazing, useful information that it only seemed right to jot a few key points down in a blog post! If any of this resonates with you and you want to listen to the episode, I’m putting a link below…but you can search Fools in Love Podcast on iTunes, Google Play or Stitcher to find us as well.

We ended up getting to talk about how hard it is to just GET STARTED with fitness. Christa explained that she frequently hears from clients that they’ll start next Monday…and how she encourages them (AND US) to start now. Not next week. Today. Once you get started, you’re heading in the right direction for progress and results.

We also got real about mom guilt–as busy moms (or dads!), it can seem selfish to take time away from our kids to focus on ourselves. I know that I personally struggled with this up until 2018, and Harlyn was born in 2014! I told myself for four years that, since I worked, if I took any more time away from my kid(s), I was just being a bad mom. Well, that’s just not true, and we need to realize it and not be afraid to take a little time to focus on our health and well-being.

And did you know that gettin’ your fitness on can be contagious??? Christa and I both started out in our journeys with husbands who were a little less exercise-minded, but who, after seeing us pursuing a healthier lifestyle, joined right on in! For me, it was running, and for Christa, it was her amazing video programs (and seriously…if I wasn’t into running, this is what I’d want to do because you don’t need a gym membership and 2 hours a day! Score!). One of the coolest things about it is that for both couples, working out ended up being something that is fun to do together.

Thankfully, we also got to spend a few minutes learning about meal prepping and how we can absolutely start with something small, like snacks, and work our way to the harder stuff. Meal planning and preparation can be tailored to how you live your life–so if you can easily get dinner on the table but lunches don’t come easy…start there!

Talking with Christa on the podcast gave me a new burst of motivation to get out of the winter mindset of less exercise. It’s SPRING!! It’s a new day and our fitness journeys can start–or restart–right now.
